Green Climate Fund to give Uzbekistan €103.7m for climate-resilient landscapes
The GCF approved the €264.4m CLiCA regional programme. Uzbekistan gets €103.7m for forests, pastures and climate-smart farming.

What was approved
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) board approved the regional programme "Climate-Resilient Landscapes in Central Asia" (CLiCA), worth €264.4m in total. Uzbekistan's share is €103.7m. The money goes to restoring forests and pastures and to climate-resilient farming methods. New land management practices are planned on 164,000 hectares.
Uzbekistan gets the largest share — almost 40% of the total. This is not a single payment. It funds projects that will roll out in stages, so the money comes with a chain of procurement: seedlings, machinery, consulting, monitoring.
What it means for suppliers
The best fit is companies working where farming, environment and infrastructure meet. That means suppliers of planting material, forestry and pasture equipment, land treatment machinery, irrigation systems and climate monitoring gear. Services count too: agronomic consulting, farmer training, project accounting and reporting systems, soil testing.
Construction is a separate lane: nurseries, warehouses, fencing, monitoring stations. Contractors and equipment suppliers can both find work here. Do not expect tenders next week. The programme was just approved. Agreements, project offices and terms of reference come next. A realistic horizon is months, not weeks.
TenderLabs data for 1 November 2026 shows 216 open lots in the Agriculture sector. That is small next to Construction (2,433) or Equipment (925). Competition in this niche is lower, but the bar for relevant qualifications is higher. Casual suppliers rarely get in.
What to do now
- 1Build a portfolio that fits: forestry or pasture projects, equipment supplies to farms, land restoration work. Buyers on these programmes look for proven experience, not promises.
- 1Check that you have an electronic digital signature and registration in the public procurement system. Without them you cannot bid on tenders that run through budget procedures.
- 1Set up keyword monitoring: "afforestation", "pasture", "land reclamation", "climate technology", "nursery", "irrigation". The programme cuts across sectors, so lots may appear in unexpected sections.
- 1Prepare financial documents and certificates in advance. Projects with international funding often require proof of experience, turnover and no outstanding debts.
- 1Look for partners among local contractors and research institutes. They may reach project offices and hear about upcoming purchases before the notices are published.
Watch the announcements from the executing agencies — they publish terms of reference first. TenderLabs will track new lots on this topic.
