A bridge is under construction across the Karadarya river in Samarkand region, set to link the Shirin district with Samarkand city and the international airport. The bridge is 780 metres long, 29.8 metres wide and 2 metres high. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the site during a trip to the region and said, "Mana shu ko'prik mening orzularimdan biri edi." Once open, the route is expected to shrink from 23 km to 4 km, cutting travel time by 30 minutes.

What it means for suppliers

When the bridge opens, traffic toward the Shirin district and the airport will change — new routes will appear for businesses that serve the area, deliver food or work with construction materials. Suppliers in construction, road surfacing, metal and concrete, as well as transport and logistics, should watch this first: work on such sites runs in stages, and separate lots may be announced along the way. Get your ERI, funds for the bid deposit and bid templates ready, and keep proof of experience and licences on hand. There is no confirmed date for tenders — follow the announcements.

TenderLabs data as of 18 October 2026 shows 1,383 open lots in construction.
